Introduction
The Manager of Health Information Management (HIM) is responsible for the day to day operations of the Health Information Management (Medical Records) Department.
Job Description
The HIM Manager will be expected to comply with federal mandates and regulations related to patient medical records. The HIM Manager also acts as a liaison between hospital senior leadership, department managers, and information technology leadership. A key constituent of the revenue cycle organization-wide, this position contributes to Uintah Basin Healthcare’s financial strength, compliance, and overall performance by serving in a management capacity for coding, abstracting, the release of information, physician deficiency, and related functions. As such, this position is responsible for monitoring and facilitating improvement in the overall quality, timeliness, completeness, and accuracy of coding processes for assigned facilities. Further, this individual is responsible for ensuring adherence to applicable governmental and payer regulations and maintaining a coding compliance plan in order to avoid penalties. The incumbent assumes responsibility for operational management as well as administrative and fiscal matters related to medical coding functions.
Required Qualifications
RHIT or RHIA required
Advanced computer knowledge.
Detailed knowledge of ICD, CPT, DRG, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and comply with applicable healthcare industry regulations.
Knowledge and understanding of Health Information Department functions
Understanding of general workflows and processes in acute and ambulatory settings.
Proven capability to motivate, collaborate, effect change, and promote teamwork.
Excellent project planning, management, and prioritization abilities.
Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
Ability to adapt to change and handle challenges with initiative.

Previous management experience preferred

Registered Health Information Technician Certificate
OR
Registered Health Information Administrators Certificate
Compensation/Benefits
Paid time off begins accruing 6 months from the hire date. Employees who work 40 hours per week will accrue 17 days per year.
Extended Illness bank begins accruing 6 months from the hire date. Employees who work 40 hours per week will accrue 5 days per year.
8 Paid Holiday annually
At six months of service, an opportunity to participate in a 401k retirement plan that includes employer contributions match. UBH matches 1.5% up to 5%. (A total of 7.5%)
Uintah Basin Medical Center provides health, dental, life, and disability insurance benefits to benefit eligible employees. As outlined in the employee status section, benefit-eligible employees include full-time employees and part-time employees who work at least 60 hours per pay period. PRN employees and employees who work less than the required hours are not eligible for benefits.
Employees must be employed for 60 days before becoming eligible for health, dental, life, and disability benefits, and must enroll within 30 days of becoming eligible. Benefits will begin on the first day of the month after completing the 60-day waiting period.
