This position is responsible for assignment of diagnoses and procedure codes for the billing process and the statistical database. This position is also responsible for routinely tracking the incomplete Medicare records awaiting DRG prompter responses. Responsible for daily maintenance of the unbilled accounts report. Works in conjunction with Corporate Compliance department to assure all coding is based on complete and accurate documentation that is reflective of the patients medical condition and severity of illness.
Job Description

Works in conjunction with Corporate Compliance department to assure all coding is based on complete and accurate documentation that is reflective of the patient’s medical condition and severity of illness.
Required Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent required. Two (2) years coding experience in an acute care setting. RHIT, CCS, RHIA or CIC required. Skill in the use of computers. Ability to effectively manage time and schedules. Ability to monitor and or maintain quality control standards. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures. Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of American Health Information Management approved RHIT or RHIA course and or completion of college level courses in anatomy and physiology and related science courses, preferred.
Education Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
