The Service Line Coding Administrator shall have two distinct revenue cycle functions and responsibilities. First, the Administrator is directly responsible for the organization and management of the point of care coding documentation improvement program for their individual service line. As such, the Administrator must possess an expert knowledge of the documentation issues that impact service line metrics and create strategies to optimize performance. Second, the Administrator is directly responsible for all clinical coding activities for their service line. This responsibility includes the timely, optimal, and compliant coding of discharged accounts.
Associates Degree: in Health Information Management or related field (Required)
Bachelors Degree : in Nursing or Health Information Management (Preferred)
Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
2 Years experience in coding, process improvement, UR or case management in an acute care facility or clinical documentation improvement (Required)
2 Years experience in nursing or other clinical area (Required)
General Experience in ICD-9-CM and expert knowledge of the ICD-9CM coding conventions and the AHA Coding Clinic (Required)
CCS – Certified Coding Specialist (Required) or RHIA – Reg Health Information Admin (Required) or RHIT – Reg Health Information Tech (Required) or RN-LIC – PA Registered Nurse License (Required) or LPN-LIC – PA Practical Nurse License (Required)
