Job Description

The Health Information Management Director is a full-time exempt position. You will provide direction to the Health Information Department and the HIPAA Compliance Program. You are responsible for managing, coordinating, and performing the day-to-day operations and workflow of the overall HIM operations. Director is responsible for oversight and implementation of all HIM services, operational planning, service level agreements, budgets, workflow process, and internal controls, and will oversee audits of records and data for accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. This position also serves as the Chief Privacy Officer who oversees all activities including the development, implementation, and maintenance of all policy and procedures to assure compliance with HIPPA.

Essential Functions:

Directs the HIM functions of the NRH healthcare system ensuring HIM operations are executed in an effective and efficient manner
Develops policies and procedures on release of information, confidentiality, information privacy, information storage and retrieval, and record retention
Participates in hospital committees, task force committees, and other meetings as appropriate or assigned
Monitors health information management system and sets the healthcare system’s standards for data quality to ensure the integrity, completeness, and accuracy of medical records
Work collaboratively with Medical Staff and Facility Leadership to comply with standards and guidelines enforced through the Medical Staff Bylaws/Rules and Regulations.

Required Qualifications


Possess the ability to work independently and make critical decisions while following company procedures
Have strong leadership skills; ability to influence others to perform their jobs effectively and responsible for making decisions
Possess the ability to demonstrate conduct conforming to a set of values and accepted standards

Preferred Qualifications


Experience of 5-7 years preferred

RHIA certification required

Education Qualifications


Bachelor’s Degree required in Health Information Management
