STAR Medical Auditing Services is an HIM and Revenue Cycle Vendor working with hospitals and clinics across Hawaii and the Mainland. All positions are 100% fully remote and are contract-to-hire and may be full time or part time depending on project.

Job Description

As a Facility Inpatient and/or ProFee & Facility Auditor, you will be assisting STAR with medical coding audits and coding as needed for our clients on a project-by-project basis. This is an ongoing contract position that is fully-remote with flexible schedule. Must be available to work for 20-40 hours per week between hours of 8:30AM to 5:00PM Hawaii Time. Must complete Coding Assessments to be considered for position.

Responsibilities include:

–Ensure all coding complies with the ethical coding standards/guidelines and regulatory requirements.

–Communicates identified internal errors to appropriate parties in effort to educate and eliminate future errors.

–Integrates medical chart coding principles and objectivity in performance of medical audit activities.

–Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act guidelines/regulations

Required Qualifications

**Must have one of the following AHIMA/AAPC certifications: CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT
**Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and coding guidelines for ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, E/M, etc.
**At least 2 years of active auditing experience in:
–ProFee E/M for ED, New and Established Office Visits, Hospitalist and Observation
–Facility E/M for ED and Clinic visits
–Facility Observation Hours
–Minor procedures done in office
–Same Day Surgery
–Infusions, injections, and vaccines
–And/or Facility Inpatient Auditing including compliant query practices and clinical documentation standards
**Knowledge of current and developing issues, trends in medical coding procedures requirements, and be able to research as needed
**Knowledge of legal, regulatory, and policy compliance issues related to medical coding and billing procedures, and documentation including CMS guidelines
**Proficient computer skills using MS-Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer and various electronic medical records (EMR) systems including Epic, plus 3M CAC and Gebbs iCA CodeAssurance preferred
**Must reside and be legal to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

Must have one of the following AHIMA/AAPC certifications: CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT
Self-sufficient with strong analytical and research skills
Responsible and responsive
Strong attention to details
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects at once and work to meet deadlines
Computer running Windows 10 with antivirus software and firewall enabled
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
Reliable high-speed internet service
Must be a US-based

Education Qualifications

High school diploma. Must have one of the following AHIMA/AAPC certifications: CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT.
