Job Description

As an Inpatient Coder II, you will

  • Perform the functions of coding, DRG assignment, collection of predefined indicators and abstracting medical records with a case mix greater than 1.5.
  • Provide timely and accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for reimbursement and specific information for statistical purposes.
  • Remain current with recognized resources – AHA Coding Clinic and Official Coding Guidelines.
  • Group discharges utilizing the 3M encoder selecting the appropriate DRG for reimbursement.
  • Communicate with physicians and clinical staff regarding coding and documentation issues.

Required Qualifications

Experience Requirements:

  • 4 Years Coding – Inpatient Required

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

      • One of the below required
        • Registered Health Information Administrator
        • Registered Health Information Technician
        • Certified Coding Specialist Preferred

Education Qualifications

Education Required:

  • One of the below required:
    • Bachelor’s Degree Health Information Management Required
    • Associate’s Degree Health Information Management Required – With Equivalent Experience
