Full time position, Days, Shift Length: 8 hours
Responsible for analyzing and assigning deficiencies to Outpatient, Emergency Department and Inpatient records in compliance with hospital policy and HFAP requirements. Responsible for ensuring that all appropriate documents are contained within outpatient, Emergency Department and Inpatient records. Responsible for providing information to the Trauma Registry. Responsible for the physician delinquency process for the hospital and the clinics. Deliver delinquency letters. Able to comprehensively perform all HIM Specialist 1 duties.

This position is: ELIGIBLE FOR CMH EMPLOYEE REFERRAL BONUS: NON-PRIORITY RECRUITMENT
Knowledge of /Skill/Ability to: General office skills including typing, telephones, Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word and Excel. The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers. Excellent attention to detail. Type 40 wpm. The ability to read and understand patient record documentation. Ability to analyze medical records for quantitative deficiencies, analyze data, perform data entry and general computer operations. The ability to create and maintain spreadsheets. Good problem-solving skills. Develop good working relationships with providers to encourage timely completion of patient documentation. Decision-making, critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently are required.
Education and/or Experience: Successful completion of Medical Terminology class required. One year previous experience in Health Information/Medical Resources Department preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree preferred. RHIT or RHIA substitutes for experience. General office practices and procedures and computer applications required which include Outlook, Word, and Excel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to multitask. Excellent customer service skills.
