Davis Medical Center is currently seeking a Medical Coder for a 94-bed facility regulated by TJC and CMS. The Medical Coder/ HIM Team Leader serves to maintain departmental and employee training records in keeping with accrediting bodies CMS and JACHO DBHDS/DHRM standards.
Analyze and technically evaluate health records and reports; assess the quality and quantity of clinical documentation in order to accurately identify and capture all codeable and billable diagnoses and services rendered during an inpatient or outpatient encounter
Interact with physicians and ancillary providers regarding billing and documentation
Maintain all coding books with updated versions; serves as a resource for clinical staff for correct coding and documentation
Complete data entry involving admissions, discharges and transfers of patients
Perform admission and cyclic utilization review
Graduate from High School or equivalent combination of education, training or experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certification through the American Health Information Association or American Association of Professional Coders as a CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT, CPC, or specialty coding with experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Progressive health information management and medical coding experience
Electronic Health Records and Practice Management Experience
Supervisory / Leadership experience
