Job Description

Department Overview

The ITS department serves the users of the multiple Cerner/KIDS/HRIS applications that have been installed at all the Children’s service sites. The members of the PowerChart, Pharmacy, registration, orders, care coordination, radiology, D&RS, billing and scheduling teams work to provide 24-hour coverage for these patient-related applications. Other non-patient care systems include: PeopleSoft, Kronos, and Groupwise. They are involved in daily support and investigation into the future needs of our staff and patients. They investigate and test software, such as security access, and hardware, such as new wireless devices.

Position Summary

The Manager of Clinical integration and development leads a team of developers, engineers and analysts within the ITS Clinical Applications group. The manager is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and upgrading existing systems and applications. Plans and manages complex software systems or projects to support business initiatives focused on EMR and integrated systems. Responsible for researching new technologies, solutions and best practices for clinical applications

Provides system expertise in system selection and acquisition processes. Partners with leaders to create clinical systems strategic plans and roadmaps. Responsible for identifying project management requirements and direction, may lead projects.

The manager provides individual contact with team members to provide consistent direction, mentoring, and professional development. Offers feedback on performance through the year, and also during the annual review process. The manager is accountable for hiring, terminating and supporting employees as well as temporary contractors.

Education:
* Bachelor’s degree in a related area. Equivalent experience in a related area may substitute degree.

Experience:
* 10+ years experience in related IT field.
* Management/supervisory experience leading an applications team required.
* Project management experience preferred.
* Experience with clinical healthcare/EMR software applications required.
* Experience with HL7 standards and interface development process.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
* Demonstrated ability to manage a team and prioritize multiple assignments, tasks and projects and consistently meet deadlines.
* Knowledge of biomedical device data integration.
* Knowledge of health information exchange platforms and industry direction.
* Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate work schedules and projects.
* Ability to effectively lead through changing priorities.
* Ability to take responsibility and accountability.
* Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses and various other Children’s personnel.
* Strong written, verbal and presentation skills to effectively converse with individuals of different levels of business and technical knowledge. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to demonstrate user needs against current system capabilities and propose valid solutions. Aptitude for learning new software tools and products.
* Demonstrated effectiveness in leadership, management, planning, estimating, and organizational skills.
