We are seeking a Manager, Health Information Management to:
-Lead Document Imaging to support UW Health’s mission of patient care, teaching, research and community service.
-Ensure compliance with national HIMSS Stage seven measures supporting -Electronic Medical Record Adoption and interoperability.
-Ensure adherence to Joint Commission standards, and UW Health policies.
Minimum – Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related field such as Health Care Administration. Four (3) years of progressively responsible management experience may be considered in lieu of the degree in addition to the experience below.
Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management.
Master’s degree in HIM, Healthcare Analytics, Health Law, Public Health, Healthcare Administration or another related field
Minimum – Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience managing Department Operations.
Preferred – Three (3) or more years of HIM experience in a facility with a fully implemented EHR, preferably Epic. Experience with EDCO Solarity and On Base a plus.
Licenses and Certifications:
Preferred – Registered Health Information Technician or Registered Health Information Administrator, Epic certification in HIM applications
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities include:
Demonstrated operational knowledge of information systems and health information management to include paper-based medical records and electronic medical records
Demonstrated understanding of the EHR environment and impact of governmental requirements which mandate electronic health information data exchange, remote patient access to records and electronic release of records
Demonstrated willingness and ability to work professionally and collaboratively across organizations, domains and topics to ensure integrity of all patient care records while maximizing clinical and operational efficiencies
Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices and techniques used in systems analysis as related to electronic health records
Demonstrated knowledge in enterprise health information and data governance practices with ability to implement
Knowledge of technologies, processes, indices and systems necessary to file, store and retrieve records and information from paper and electronic medical record systems
Knowledge of data base management applications and associated report writers required to retrieve information
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and disease processes sufficient to understand the information needs of care providers and to translate these needs into operational systems
Knowledge of state and federal (HIPAA) laws pertaining to confidentiality of protected health information
Ability to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction including employees, patients, visitors, faculty, referring physicians and external stakeholders
Ability to manage HIM project implementation/individuals and monitor deliverables to ensure milestone and on-budget completion
Sedentary: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one, which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.

This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE position that is scheduled to work Monday through Friday, normal business hours. Hours may vary based upon the operational needs of the department.
