River Oaks Hospital, located in metropolitan New Orleans, Louisiana, is a private psychiatric facility for adults, adolescents and children. Since 1970, River Oaks has established a tradition of excellence in the treatment of acute psychiatric illness, dual diagnosis, alcohol and drug detoxification, trauma based disorders, compulsive behaviors, and eating disorders, River Oaks has provided quality treatment to service individuals suffering from mental illness, and/or addictive disorders. Situated on a 14-acre campus, services are available at all levels of care (inpatient, day or partial hospitalization, outpatient, and intensive outpatient).

Job Description

The Department Director is responsible for all departmental functions in support of the hospital mission, vision, and facility goals. The Director identifies the cost-effective systems needed to support the business of the department taking into account business trends, resource availability and changes in customers. This position establishes effective working relationships with all constituencies including patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and vendors. The Director identifies and remedies through continuous customer satisfaction data and employee involvement. The Department Director works with Senior Management in meeting Facility goals.

The Director has the responsibility and authority of planning, organizing, controlling, coordinating and evaluating the activities and functions of the Health Information Department. Responsible for facility HIPAA training, compliance, and enforcement.

Required Qualifications

•Associate’s degree, preferably in Health Information Management/ Coding;
•Must possess current certification credentials (CPC/CCS; RHIT/RHIA) (AHIMA – American Health Information Management Association or AAPC – American Academy of Professional Coders)
•Ability to set priorities, be self-directed, highly motivated and work in a fast paced environment;
•Demonstrate organizational skills to assemble patient’s medical record;
•Candidate must have excellent communication skills; the ability to work with all levels of people and do so in a pleasant, customer service manner.
