Business Analyst (Automation) acts under functional guidance and direction of the Informatics / IT Operations Manager operating as the recognized certified tumor registrar (CTR) specialist on the development, support and maintenance of complex automation designed to reduce manual work effort needed to complete cancer cases within the database. The incumbent devises or modified procedures to solve and automate complex cancer cases processing activities within the cancer registry data management system. The position utilizes CTR skills to analyze, document, design, develop logic, unit test, and debug automation log intended to streamline efficiencies within the database. Acts as a cancer registry business process expert and assists users in defining needs for automating manual practices so that a complete set of cancer business rules and standards (~10,000) are captured into a programmable automation solution. The Business Analyst/Automation is responsible for applying incumbent’s cancer data processing knowledge in assisting to help capture, analyze, and optimize the collective business knowledge of al Certified Tumor Registrars into a suite of automation solutions where and when feasible to support improving cancer case data quality, timeliness, and completeness.

• Business knowledge of cancer registry business processes.
• Experience working directly with users to define business rules and processes.
• Familiar with Use Cases, activity diagrams, data flow diagrams, and business process flow diagrams.
• Knowledge of the software development life cycle.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The position requires hands-on business requirements gathering and the candidate must be fully skilled in writing specification, Use Cases, documenting programs, and writing test scripts as required by the software development life cycle process.
• Solid knowledge of testing tools and techniques.
Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Tumor Registrar.
• General knowledge of cancer registry data standards; California Cancer Reporting Standards Volumes I-IV.
Special Requirements
• Valid California driver’s license.
• Work occasional overtime.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of California Cancer Coding Standards contained in California Cancer Coding manuals Volumes I-V, SEER Program Coding Manual, NAACCR standards, Facility Oncology Registry Data Standards (FORDS), Collaborative Staging Manual, Multiple Primaries and Histology Coding standards.
• This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
