The Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD) is the heart of the fully integrated regional pediatric health care system with the only Level 1 Trauma Pediatric Center within Virginia. We are delighted to open the Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist role within our Health Information Management department. This is a full time, benefit eligible opportunity located in Norfolk, Virginia. This Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist will review inpatient medical records to assess and procure accurate and complete documentation of the patients’ diagnosis and procedures. The CDI Specialist will also use their attention to detail to facilitate clinically appropriate physician/clinician documentation of all patent conditions, treatments, and interventions. The focus of these will be to accurately reflect quality of care, severity of illness and risk of morality to support correct coding, reimbursement, and quality initiatives. The CDI Specialist will utilize their expertise to serve as a resource to hospital and health system departments. Experience, Education, and Training Minimum:
- RN (BSN preferred) with two to three years of clinical experience with acute inpatient care or RHIA with a minimum of two to three years acute inpatient care coding
- Experience with criteria based chart reviews, such as Utilization Management, Case Management, Managed Care, or Quality Improvement.
- Dependable and self-directed with the ability to successfully multitask and manage conflicting priorities.
- Must be credentialed through AHIMA as a Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) within one year of start date in this position.
