This position is responsible for managing the informatics team and for oversight of all UHS informatics activities in support of the University Health Services (UHS) mission: Collaborate in the university’s work of learning and service, through preserving and enhancing health and well-being, in partnership with students and the campus community, and creating and disseminating resources that promote healthy people and communities.

Job Description

Principal duties:

Duties include, but are not limited to:
Implementation, optimization and support of the electronic health record (EHR)
Oversees data queries, governance and analytics that support clinical services, operations and population health
Direction and participation in quality improvement activities across the organization
Communication and liaison between departments and units
Creating, testing, maintaining clinical interfaces e.g. lab, radiology, registration, immunization
Collaborating with other UHS departments and stakeholders including Health Information Management and IT services to assure security and privacy of health information in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA requirements
Provide direction and support for EHR and ancillary reporting tools e.g. PnC Ad Hoc reporting tool, Tableau, etc. as it relates to clinical data

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required

Current certification or intent to become certified in informatics, health information management, data governance or related area(s)


Preferred Qualifications

Preferred experience
Minimum of 5 years providing software support in a healthcare organization
Minimum of 2 years supervising individuals or managing a program
Experience with Point and Click Solutions EHR software preferred
Experience in project management preferred

Highly preferred experience would include:
HIT Certificate; RHIT, RHIA also considered;
Ability to work with users and department managers to evaluate workflows, understand needs and offer solutions utilizing EHR;
Technical documentation skills and basic competence in Word and Excel
Ability to communicate effectively with users across the organization, orally and in writing;
Project management
Knowledge of technical training techniques and methodologies.
Ability to gather business requirements and plan, create, and implement a business application

Minimum $65,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
