Job Description

The coder assures quality and timely submission of demographic and diagnostic information for data retrieval and reimbursement. The position performs retrospective coding of diagnosis for all acute, inpatient records and other classifications as required by third party payors. In addition, the coder monitors the KFMC DRG inquiries and follows-up as needed. Codes diagnoses/procedures utilizing ICD-9-CM Disease Classification System. Outpatient coding is performed utilizing CPT classification system. Assists with monitoring completion of final diagnoses to facilitate timely claim submission.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Experience
      • Five years coding experience in a hospital setting
Required Registration/License/Certification
      • Registration as an R.H.I.A.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Education
      • Associates degree in Health Information Science preferred
