Job Description

Job Summary: The HIM Release of Information Network Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the management, workflow, access, and retrieval of patient information across all LVHN hospital and practice facilities and locations, ensuring the integrity of the electronic medical record (EMR) and legal medical record. This position ensures written and verbal requests for release of information of medical record documentation are responded to accurately and timely in accordance with established hospital and departmental policy, as well as state and federal laws, and consistently across LVHN sites. The network manager travels to all facilities onsite to assess, streamline, and implement processes and policies, partnering with the release of information vendor, to ensure fluid departmental operations and effective patient and customer communication. The HIM Release of Information Network Manager serves as a liaison between HIM and other departments, and supports the campus managers and Network Directors. In addition, the network manager assists the Network Director with capital and operational budgets, benchmarking, and scorecard data submission. The network manager ensures turnaround time and compliance of HIM functions to meet departmental and organizational goals, implementing efficient processes and assessing staff performance.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required in HIM, health-related technology, informatics, or healthcare administration; Associate’s degree in Health Information Management. AHIMA credentials and/or CRIS certification or eligible. Electronic medical record (EMR) training, using and retrieving information from multiple EMRs and other information systems. Knowledge of TJC, CMS, and state and federal accreditation and regulations for acute care. Strong management and leadership skills, problem solving, coaching and guiding work activities, and effectively delegating.

5 years HIM and HIM-related application use with 3 of these years in a management capacity, with an understanding of healthcare data, how it is stored, and retrieved. Excellent computer skills, including understanding of Microsoft Office tools. Previous healthcare, IS, or acute care hospital experience. Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, data-oriented, process-oriented, ability to multitask, possess good communication skills, teaching ability, is highly efficient, with high degree of accuracy.

Understanding of HIM operational workflow. Strong problem solving abilities, investigative and analytical skills to ensure adherence to TJC, state, and federal regulations. Excellent communication, phone etiquette, and interpersonal skills, both oral and written with internal and external customers. Ability to work independently with providers and other departments in a collaborative manner. Good stress management skills, ability to work under pressure within time constraints. Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills required meeting PRIDE and AIDET behaviors and professionalism. Maintains confidentiality and privacy of patient, customer, and colleague information accessed during the course of normal business. Ability to drive/travel to multiple locations/facilities as needed for training purposes.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management preferred from an accredited school.

3 years HIM experience in all aspects of HIM functions in a large acute care setting or physician practice with HIM technology experience.

Ability to educate and train peers and providers.

RHIT/RHIA or eligible; RHIA(This credential requires a Bachelor’s degree or RHIT(this credential requires an associates degree)+ a healthcare related bachelor’s degree

AHIMA credentials/certification or eligible.
