Northern Light Health Eastern Maine Medical Center is recruiting for a Pool/Per-Diem certified coder with a minimum of 2 years of ICD-10, CPT and E/M coding experience in an acute care facility for Outpatient areas.
The coder will be responsible for Reviewing EHR documentation and assign applicable ICD-10-CM, CPT (E/M included), and modifiers. Post applicable charges, assign the discharge disposition status code, and abstract data elements using the 3M 360 databased and encoder. Physician query as appropriate.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Individual may be required to sit for long periods of time. Also required is phone-utilization, visual and auditory acuity, finger-wrist action repetitive motion, and utilization of a computer/keyboard. Verbal aptitude, written and oral, for communication with Medical Staff and other healthcare professionals. Extended data input on PC using keyboard
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 2 years of ICD-10 and CPT (E/M included) coding experience in acute care facility preferred. Evaluation & Management experience a plus. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Must be familiar with PC’s and able to work with multiple technical systems simultaneously. Must be detail oriented. Ability to perform well in a fast-paced, team environment and to manage time effectively. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
RHIT/CPC, COC, CCS or CCS-P
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Associate Degree in Health Information Management with RHIT certification or (enrollment in RHIT program w/ RHIT certification within 12 months of graduation), or current certification as CPC, COC, CCS, or CCS-P required.
