Job Description

Responsible for maintaining administrative, operational, and technical aspects of the Inpatient MS-DRG (Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groups) Coding Operations. Ensures that Coding is completed in established time frames to maintain financial stability of the organization.

Required Qualifications


  • EXPERIENCE: 5 Years inpatient coding experience, experience with MS-DRG (Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groups) grouper preferred. 3 years experience with clinical information systems (3M grouper, Soft- Med, Electronic Medical Record, etc.). 3 Years operational and/or supervision experience preferred.
  • SKILLS: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills required. Clinical system software skills (3M, electronic medical record, etc.). Data evaluation and analysis experience. Strong knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis Related Groups) payment and regulatory systems. Supervisory skills.

Education Qualifications

  • EDUCATION: High School graduation or equivalent; Bachelors degree preferred.
  • LICENSE/CERT/REG: CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) certification. RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) preferred.
