Job Description

Overview: 

Employees in this title typically maintain, review, evaluate, and develop the policies, standards, and methods of operation for a medical record department of a health care facility or program.

Required Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1)  18 months of experience as a medical record technician in a health care facility or program. AND

2)  4 years of experience as a medical record administrator/librarian in a health care facility or program.  Such experience must have been gained in the last six years, and the health care facility or program in which it was gained must have been accredited by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Hospitals or the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Care.

Condition of Employment: The individual who is hired into this position must obtain registration as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) by the American Health Information Management Association within 2  years of their start date and maintain certification while in this role.

Condition of Employment:  Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, an out-of-state resident who is hired into this position must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of their start date.
