Job Description

As the ARHS Hospital Lead Coder, you will assist the ARHS Hospital Coding Supervisor with day to day process flows for ARHS hospital coding.  To be successful in this role, you must be knowledgeable in multi-service type coding, systems processes and procedures.  As the Lead Coder, you must be able to effectively train the coding staff and have expert knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM and PCS coding.  You will be responsible for auditing coders for coding accuracy as well as ensuring that coders are adhering to coding conventions, official coding and reporting guidelines for both diagnosis and procedure coding.
As the Lead Coder, you will work closely with other ARHS Coders to provide education and respond to questions that arise during normal day operations.  You will also provide supervisory coverage during the absence of the Coding Supervisor.
This can be a remote position, however, it may be required that you make on-site visits for training or education.

Required Qualifications

  • CCS credential required
  • Minimum of 3 years previous coding experience in multi-service hospital environment to include inpatient and outpatient coding required
  • Experience with electronic medical record required
  • Previous audit experience preferred
  • Previous experience in Lead or Coordinator role preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred.
  • Previous audit experience preferred
  • Previous experience in Lead or Coordinator role preferred
