Position Summary

Job Description
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
– Be available to teach in-person courses as scheduled.
– Assist in curriculum development through preparation of additional courses, seminars, or labs consistent with the needs of the college and the community.
– Participate as a faculty member in college governance, advisement of students, on college committees, and in continuing professional development.
– Provide appropriate cooperative assistance to the faculty members of the Health information Management Department, within the Math, Science, and Health Services Division, and the faculty and staff at large in striving for educational excellence.
– Participation in assessment of learning at the classroom, course, departmental, and college level.
Departmental Specific Functions and Responsibilities:
MCC’s AAS in Health Information management is a CAHIIM-accredited program. The successful candidate will teach across the HIM curriculum, support program accreditation requirements, and contribute to departmental initiatives.
Required Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field and 2,000 hours of related work experience.
– Must hold an active credential from AHIMA.
– Demonstrate comprehensive expertise across AHIMA’s core competency domains.
– Understanding of and commitment to community college mission and students.
Preferred Qualifications
Desired Qualifications:
– Master’s degree in HIM or related discipline.
– Active RHIA credential from AHIMA
– Cancer Registry Management experience
