Session
Session 1: Key Terms, Documentation Requirements, General Coding Rules, Head & Neck Angiography
 
    This session will cover the basics of IR coding. Attendees will develop an understanding of key terms used in IR coding as well as required documentation for correct coding.  The basic concepts and principles will be applied with an explanation of head and neck procedures.  Participants will receive actual cases with an explanation of how to code each.    
 

Session 2: Upper Extremity Angiography, Lower Extremity & Pelvic Angiography
 
   

Session #2 will start  with a brief review of coding principles and terms from Session #1.  Instruction will be provided on how to code for peripheral extremity and pelvic diagnostic interventions. 

Participants will receive actual cases with a written explanation of how to code each.    
 


Session 3: Abdominal Angiography
 
   
   

Session #3 will start  with a brief review of coding principles and terms from Session #1.  Instruction will be provided on how to code for abdominal  diagnostic interventions. 

Participants will receive actual cases with a written explanation of how to code each.    
 


Session 4: Angioplasty, Stents, Atherectomy
 
   
   

Session #4 will expand upon the concepts and principles from sessions 1 -3, but will focus on the coding rules for therapeutic interventions – angioplasty, stent and atherectomy. 

Participants will receive actual cases a written explanation of how to code each. 
 

Session 5: Embolization & Occlusion, Thrombolysis, Dialysis Access Maintenance
 
   

Session #5 will expand upon the concepts and principles from sessions 1 -3, but will focus on the coding rules for therapeutic interventions – embolization & occlusion, thrombolysis, dialysis access maintenance

Participants will receive actual cases a written explanation of how to code each.   
 

Session 6: IR Case Studies      
    This session will serve as a review of sessions #1-5.  The entire two hour session will be  study based and participants will receive detailed instruction on how to “dissect” interventional radiology reports and correctly apply the coding rules for these procedures.    Participants will receive actual cases a written explanation of how to code each.
