Through this presentation the audience will become familiar with all of the major database and benchmarking activities requiring data; review the challenges of turning physician documentation into quality data that are reviewed by payors and regulators; and will learn several strategies for quantitatively and qualitatively improving the process of information flow.

“HIM Leadership in Action: Making Change Happen“

Navigating the major changes occurring in health care and in the world can be daunting, much less effecting changes in your workplace or community to keep up. This session will describe what influences the need for health care to change and the impact on the HIM professional. The HIM professional can act as a change agent in their workplace and their communities to help facilitate and adapt to change. Attendees will gain knowledge of how to understand the ‘wake up call’ for change. Examples of HIM professionals as role model change agents will be described.  In addition, change management techniques will also be clarified for real life application in the work place.

“Legal Health Record and eDiscovery Update”

This presentation will discuss the deeper implications of Legal Health Record definition, Litigation Response, eDiscovery and EHR functions related to the LHR. As an added bonus slides will be included that list in detail the new FRCP and Uniform Rules for eDiscovery. Attendees will learn in more detail how to begin management of their own LHR definitional processes.
